[Samba] Why do I have to have guest ok?

I have finally configured Samba as a PDC, I can log in
correctly and map shares. However to get the log in
process to work I had to specify 'guest ok = yes' in
[global] and supply a 'guest account' as I don't have a
'nobody' account. I do not want these settings and from
the docs I should not have to have them to log in. In
smbstatus it shows the logged in user using the shares,
but it still shows the guest account using the IPC$ service.

Any thoughts?
