[Samba] Samba PDC and Word

Try opening the Word doc without enabling macros.  On Word 2000, select 

TOOLS -> MACRO -> SECURITY

This will give you a window with 3 choices of "security" with macros.
Select MEDIUM so you will be prompted to run macros.  Then open the suspect
document and select the choice (I don't recall exactly what it says) to not
enable macros when you open this document this time.  See how the document
performs.  It may not work completely right as the macro function won't
work, but you should be able to do simple edits and save them.

I'd be very curious to see if you can isolate this cause.  Like I mentioned
earlier the problem mysteriously went away without my intervention.  :)
