[Samba] Can I use smbclient to run EXEs?

Howdy,

I’m attempting to use smbclient to log into a Windows 2000 workstation
and run a single EXE file.

1) Can smbclient do this?  I can mount shared folders, but can I
actually run an executable and return the results to my unix shell?

2a) If so, how?  smbclient //machinename/sharename/executable.exe
returns a “NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME” error.

2b) If not, can someone suggest an alternate method, aside from writing
a socket application to listen to commands and run the appropriate
commands locally.
