Looks like SuSe 8.0 is using samba-2.2.3a with an unpatched kernel-2.4.18...
Maybe just wait for SuSe to issue an updated kernel that doesn't hang when 
trying to mount a share from the box it's installed on...

Anyway I suggest you tell SuSe about that bug ASAP.

Tomorrow I'll try it on a SuSe 8.0 to check it out and try to reproduce your 
bug (I only have mdk boxes at home ;o).
