Mitch answers : Nope. Can't be.
Here is a snippet from MY /etc/samba/smbpasswd file.

(Ignore password hash area... NOTE THE [U ] for this entry

NOTICE the nice UX here...
on both I did a smbpasswd user password and then a
smbpasswd -e user to enable user.
SO WHY the UX?
and why cant I still get on server as ANYONE?
(remember I did try the smbclient with both ID's to verify password was correct.
