Dear list users,
we have samba 2.2.2 (2.2.3 does not work the SPOOLSS printing very fine for us...) with security=server setting and password server = our
DC in compat. mode.

Now sometimes we get this error

[2002/03/26 10:27:04, 0] passdb/pdb_smbpasswd.c:startsmbfilepwent(171)
startsmbfilepwent_internal: unable to open file /opt/samba/private/smbpasswd.
Error was No such file or directory
[2002/03/26 10:27:04, 0] passdb/pdb_smbpasswd.c:pdb_getsampwnam(1368)
  unable to open passdb database.

and the user is denied in access to samba shares/printers.

It seems as samba try to look around the crypted pwd file, but we have security=server, so every work on authentication could be done by the
server: why this try ?

Thanks to all.

Pls, reply also to original address, 'cause i'm not in list... thks.
