Dear Sir/Madam,
I am new to Samba (and this mailing list) so please forgive me if I breach
protocol or ask a question that has already been answered.
I am running Samba 2.2.3 on Red Hat 7.2 with Win XP work stations.
Everything is working fine except for when I try to save a file from Word 2000
to a share on Samba. The file saves OK but will not re-open, I get the error
message:
The document name or path is not valid. Try these suggestions.
Check the file permissions for the document or drive.
Use the File Open dialog Box to locate the document.
If I save the file to disk and copy it onto the Samba share there is no
problem re-opening. Similarly if I save as a Word 6.0/95 document to a Samba
share there is also no problem. There is no problem saving other Office
files, only Word.
I have noticed that if I look at the document properties from an XP
workstation the documents that will not open have no "Summary" information
whereas documents copied to Samba do.
Any help that anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated.
Yours sincerely
Ashley Bennett
