[Samba] Non-windows Users?

Do I need to add a directive to the config file to tell it to use that?
I just added a user using smbadduser, and it didn't change a thing.

Just create an smbpasswd file with the passwords for the unix users
you want. If authentication to the server fails it will try the ones
in smbpasswd.
