Hi,

I have used samba on my unix machines for a long time, but this is the first
time I have wanted to mount a NT Share on my machine, I am running 2.2.1a,
here is my problem:

rpm -qa | grep -i samba
samba-2.2.1a-20010717rh62

Definatly v 2.2.1a

smbclient //core/public -U Administrator
INFO: Debug class all level = 1 (pid 10912 from pid 10912)
added interface ip=192.168.179.254 bcast=192.168.179.255 nmask=255.255.255.0
Password:
Domain=[SIMS] OS=[Windows NT 4.0] Server=[NT LAN Manager 4.0]
smb: \> ls
  . D 0 Wed Sep 19 10:29:28 2001
  .. D 0 Wed Sep 19 10:29:28 2001
  Apps DA 0 Wed May 23 08:44:27 2001

This works fine, however:

 ls /mnt
public

The mountpoint exists.

/usr/sbin/smbmount //core/public /mnt/public -o username=Administrator
INFO: Debug class all level = 1 (pid 10916 from pid 10916)
Password:
execvp of smbmnt failed. Error was No such file or directory.smbmnt failed:
1

I tried this too:

mount -t smbfs -o username=Administrator //core/public /mnt/public
INFO: Debug class all level = 1 (pid 11015 from pid 11015)
Password:
execvp of smbmnt failed. Error was No such file or directory.smbmnt failed:
1

A strace shows that mount forks mount.smbfs, so I straced that and it
doesn't appear to be trying to fork smbmnt

Very strange, the I'm 99% sure samba is setup correctly because the
smbclient can access the share, I just cant mount it !!

Andy
