Problem with "Unix password sync"

Hi all,

I cannot change passwords under Win95/98 for the domain.
(Windows says: "Incorrect Password").
Samba 2.2.x (SUSE7.2) is running  and I have access to all my
shares correctly.
Passwords in "/etc/passwd" and "/etc/smbpasswd" are the same !

smb.conf
**********

encrypt passwords = yes
unix password sync = yes
passwd program = /usr/bin/passwd %u  ; ("passwd" really exists!)
passwd chat = *new password* %n\n *new password* %n\n *changed*
