Upgrading from 2.0.6 to 2.2.1a

Hello Jose,
You can get the latest 2.0.x release of CIFS/9000 server (Samba) WITH
security patches for that samba line from your latest application cd rom set
(Sept 2001, which shipped Sept 19) or the previous June 2001 application rom
set... HP supports this version on 11.x.
If you want to go with a 2.2.x release, I would recommend that you wait for
the upcomming Samba 2.2.2 release, that is expected in the next couple of
weeks. Samba 2.2.1a binaries are slated to be posted by the Samba team
shortly, but there were a number of issues that 2.2.1a has running on an
HP-UX system due to the lack of a unified buffer cache on that operating
system, which could cause .tdb file corruption that are being addressed in
the 2.2.2 release. It isn't officially supported by HP (yet...), but the
Samba mailing list is an excellent source of help in the meantime.

Hope this helps,
don

Subject: Upgrading from 2.0.6 to 2.2.1a

  Hi,
  we have about 60 HP-9000 servers (K, D, R, L, A series) which we have
recently upgraded to HP-UX 11.0. This version of HP-UX includes Samba 2.0.6.

We haven´t so far used Samba but we are testing it and planning to use it in
all our servers.
Because of the security bugs discovered, we would like to upgrade them to
version 2.2.1a. This version doesn't seem to be available in binary format
for HP platforms, so we would have to make the binaries and distribute them
to all the servers.
Is there an easier way to do the upgrade?
  Thanks in advance.
