Samba 2.03 with SCO Openserver 5.04

I am trying to use a Windows 2000 Professional client to connect to Samba
2.03 on SCO Openserver 5.04, and it cannot authenticate properly.
I have a Linux  server with Samba 2.05a and this works ok

I figure that I need a later version of Samba on SCO Openserver to work with
Windows 2000 Professional. Is this logic sound?
