Compiling samba2.2.2

I am trying to compile Samba 2.2.2. on a Compaq Alpha using Tru64-UNIX 5.1.
Comfigure runs fine but when I try to make samba I get the following error 
when compiling dir.c:

Compiling smbd/dir.c
smbd/dir.c:628: macro `stat' used with too many (3) args
smbd/dir.c:677: macro `stat' used with too many (3) args
*** Exit 1
Stop.

  Any ideas?
