compile error - need help

[Javid Abdul-AJAVID1]

I am trying to compile samba-2.0.7 on solaris8
compiler: gcc2.95.3 ( solaris 8 comaptible )

am getting the following error


 ./configure 
error: $ ./configure loading cache ./config.cache checking for gcc... gcc
checking whether the C compiler works... no
 configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C compiler 

Now should i be using a different compiler for samba-2.0.7 on solaris8
