Profile confusion

I have been a long time user of samba and it has been a very useful
tool for me, but one thing has always caused confusion for me: roaming
profiles.

I have logging in to a domain, and logon scripts working for Win9x/ME,
and have also tested 2000 using the new 2.2 stuff, adding machine
accounts etc.

It seems that the documentation on this is unclear and confusing.  I
would appreciate any pointers to something on the 'net that would
clarify this for me.
