Query: any popular app does NOT like "strict locking = no"?

I often do consulting for shops who have really old DOS apps (Clipper,
Paradox...) and I want to be extra safe when suggesting migration from
NT or NetWare to Linux/Samba.

Hey, now I had an idea: what about a log option that issues a warning
when an client issues a read/write request colliding with some
byte-range lock? That would be a great diagnosis tool.
