Samba/Linux security and sync

Hi All,
I have a Linux RedHat 7.0 box running web server and Samba server 2.2.0.
I have setup accounts for users.
I wish to use the password sync feature.
I uncommented the lines;

unix password sync = yes
passwd program = /usr/bin/passwd %u
passwd chat = *New*UNIX*password* %n\n *ReType*new*UNIX*password*%n\n *passwd:*all*authentication*tokens*updated*successfullly*

But this doesn't seem to have worked.
Can someone help me?
