You should create machine account in your passwd file.
Look in documentation of samba.

Temat: Win2000 and PDC under samba 2.2.2
lo,
I have just install samba 2.2.2 and I would like to configure it as a PDC so
I followed the Samba 2.2 PDC howto but I have a probleme when I want to join
my domain with a client under win2k:
win2k ask me the login and a password of an administrator that could allow
me to join the domain.
So I have create un samba account named root like it is said in the howto
but it doesn t work
this is a cut from my samba log
