oplocks and index corruption...GoldMine?

Searching the archives I have found others with this problem but I have
never seen a solution posted. If I can fix this, I will post a summary.

I have a share set up as follows:
[apps]
    path = /data/apps
    valid users = @adm @users
    admin users = @adm @users
    write list = @adm @users
    read only = No
    create mask = 0777
    force create mode = 0777
    directory mask = 0777
    force directory mode = 0777
    guest ok = Yes
    hide dot files = No
    share modes = No
    fstype = SAMBA
    oplocks = no
    level2 oplocks = no
    strict locking = yes

Multiple simultaneous users are using the Goldmine application which
accesses it's database on this share. Unfortunately, the database index
file becomes corrupt after a time and requires a rebuild. This problem
does not exist when NT is used as the file-share.

Has anyone out there managed to get this to work?
What am I missing?

Thank You
