Problem with username when printing

We have installed 2.2.0 on RH 7.1. One of the printers we use a little
banner-making program which we start with:

[theprinter]
        ...
        print command = /usr/local/lib/print-banner %p %u %m %s
        ...

When we upgraded to 2.2.0 the bannerpage sometimes prints nobody as the
user. But we have not been able to find a pattern. A user can print 2
documents in a row and one gets nobody and the other gets the username.

Any hints where to start looking?
