extending samba outside of a LAN

hello

I am new to this list

I am currently running redhat v6.  samba gives me the ability to mount
my linux files onto my windows machines

one thing I am realizing is I need to be able to mount my linux folders
OUTSIDE of my LAN.  I have another machine at a remote location with
a fixed IP running ADSL that I would love to be able to do a NFS mount
to my redhat directories

firstly, is it possible to do a NFS mount outside a LAN?

can anyone help me with this
