Problem with cableModem

Hi all, I have the next problem:
I have installed samba over redhat 6.1 and this redhat I used for
gateway for my cablemodem, but when the cablemodem lost the signal, my
applications runnig in this server hanged up, and I have to restart the
Redhat.
Please if somebody knows how I can fix this problem I will apreceate.
