Samba won't act as PDC

I have been tasked to be one of the main targets, er, I mean, guys to
facilitate our changeover from a rather aged Novell server to Samba.

My boss set up Samba 2.0.7 (RPM shows "samba-common-2.0.7-4" with an RPM
-q). I am trying to convert it to PDC functionality, and am having
difficulty. In the log I see this:

"smbd/password.c:authorise_login(826) rejected invalid user nobody"

and on the client side (a Win98 box for testing right now; will eventually
be both 95 & 98, as well as NT boxen), I see this error: "The domain
password you supplied is not correct or access to your domain server has
been denied". I have a netlogon share, as well as entries in etc/passwd:
pc1014$:x:511:1008:Test PC:/dev/null:/dev/null

and in smbpasswd:
U ]:LCT-3ABF98A4:

Thought I am not sure where that "NO PASSWORD" part came from...

I am sure I am missing something simple here...

Attached is our current smb.conf file.
