Interesting. I just did a configure, with prefix at /opt/smb22a2, and everything seems to have respected that except for the sysconf-dir. The ./configure --help says that it will be by default the etc directory in prefix, but the compiled version was looking for files in /etc rather than /opt/smb22a2/etc.
