Kerberos Support

As a new subscriber to this list, I would like to ask if the Kerberos
support for Samba 2.2alpha (krb5 Redhat packages are what I've already got
installed) is a bad idea.

Lots of room for subjective answers, no?

Specifically, does it require krb5 to make connections once the smb services
are running, or is it simply a connection option, used if available?

I have read that MS tailored Kerberos to their own, evil ends. Will this be
completely incompatible, or partially compatible?
