Yes, it does.
The smb request/replies go across port 139, all the way from when you do a 
negotiate protocol, sessionsetup&x, tcon&x, and pretty much everything
inbetween.
The ports 137 and 138 are mostly used for broadcast, name resolution, net
sends,
etc.

Could someone please tell me just what each port that samba uses is for?

I believe they are 137, 138, and 139.

Does the actual DATA travel across using one of these ports?
