I am answering some of the comments here, please see them....and thanks
for the help.

problem. I also used several other names that were trying to login and
they to were able to login......

**discflo is the domain name, I think I either read it in the man pages
for smb.conf or in my samba book.

address, but what is the other one?

****** ok regarding broken pipes.....I have alot of those in my
machione.log files
and I have some other errors as follows... I also have log files for
machines that are not set up to log in.....

and this is when I rem out the password server...

  password server not available
[2001/01/24 09:44:09, 1] smbd/password.c:server_validate(1063)
  password server  is not connected
[2001/01/24 09:44:14, 0] smbd/password.c:server_cryptkey(1007)
  password server not available


now I am screwed I left my samba book at home....thanks for all the help
