Error joining W2K server to domain

I am having trouble joining a Win2K server to a samba 2.0.7 domain.  I make the
machine accounts, and then on the win box I tell it to be a member of a domain.
It then asks for a username and password of someone with privileges to add the
machine.  It seems no matter what I enter here I always get the message:

The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "junk":
The procedure number is out of range.

What am I doing wrong?
