network connection errors

Are you running with encrypted passwords or not? Win98 requires you to
run with encrypted passwords or apply a registry patch. See the file
ENCRYPTION.txt in the /usr/samba/docs/textdocs/ directory and the
registry file Win98_PlainPassword.reg in the /usr/samba/docs/ directory.
