Browsing Lists -- no null passwords

All, 
  It seems that seeing a samba server on a windows network neighborhood
browse list is often a problem.   I finally figured out that the 

# smb.conf extract:
  null passwords = yes

that I had in there prevented the windows machines from seeing it.
changing it to:

# smb.conf extract:
  null passwords = no

made the machine appear in the browse list.

Although I do not remember why I had null passwords = yes in my file, I
saw no mention of this as a potential "network neighborhood" browsing
problem.  Am I missing something?

Perhaps it would be nice to mention this in DIAGNOSIS Test #11
