Only Samba WINS server and floppy-based Linux?

Hello,
I'm looking for a WINS server that could run on a dedicated PC by itself.
Samba nmbd and Linux look like the ticket.  Is there a floppy-based Linux
distribution that is known to work with Samba?

I've compiled from source the 2.0.7 binaries using Vector Linux 1.8 and am
running the entire Samba suite there.  A smaller Linux OS distribution would
be great.  Anybody tried this with nmbd running only and successful?
