Compiling samba with solaris

Did you install binutils tools, gcc will not work without them.

I just cvs the samba_2_2 branch with
cvs -d :pserver:cvs at samba.org:/cvsroot co -r SAMBA_2_2 samba

and i try to compile samba with gcc under solaris 8 (SUNultra10):
# pwd
/tmp/samba/source
# ./configure --with-automount --with-nisplus-home
loading cache ./config.cache
checking for gcc... gcc
checking whether the C compiler (gcc -O  ) works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C compiler
cannot create
executables.
# gcc -v
Reading specs from
/usr/local/lib/gcc-lib/sparc-sun-solaris2.8/2.95.3/specs
gcc version 2.95.3 20010315 (release)

Perharps a problem with CFLAGS ?
