Just a quick note regarding the authentication changes:

Most of this has been ripped to pieces in 3.0, so you might want to bug
me when you start looking at porting 3.0 to OS X.  In particular, it
should be *much* easier to drop in a new authentication backend, without
major mess.  Who knows, it might even be documented by then... :-)
