ERROR: root did not create the semaphore

I start Samba process smbd and nmbd correctly
But smbstatus did not run, it return :
# ./smbstatus

Samba version 2.0.5a

ERROR: root did not create the semaphore
ERROR: Failed to initialise share modes
Can't initialise shared memory - exiting

We use Samba 2.0.5 on an SCO Release 5.0.5, Kernel rel=3.2 
128Mo RAM

Can you give me some orientation in my problem ?
Is it a memory space problem or something like this ?
