Samba is slow while sending data

Hello Group.

I have installed Samba on a very small server (PI-133, 32MB-RAM, 14GB HD). The network is a twisted paid from Server to the HUP (1 meter) and a BNC from HUP to client (nearly 20 meter).

Now I installed SuSE 7.2 an the samba from it. I shared some folders and configured samba as PDC. The Client (Win98) logs in at the server and everything is fine.
Now i wanted to use the Server for MP3-Files. Playing the file stored on the server by doubleklicking it on the share playes them, but the connection ist too slow to play them in one pice. It is horrible to listen.
So I tried another thing. Some files from my home-dir (1.4MB). I copied them from the Server to the client. This took me more than one minute. Then I deleted them on the server and copied them back, in a few seconds.

How can it be? I tried socket options = IPTOS_THROUGHPUT. It was better, but not good!
All other transmissions (download from the internet) are much faster than samba. This Data come from the same server, a proxy squid!

Thanks for your help!!!!!!

Andre
