Newbe NT Permissions question

I have created a Samba share that is seen by 4 NT servers.
I created smb accounts for each user.
I have added each user to a specific group and changed the 
permissions for that group to 774.
 Why is it that the NT shares still create files with the permission
744?
 
How can I change the default to 774.
