connecting to windows printers shares

Hello all, I'm having a problem connecting to windows printer shares on 
my NT domain.  I can sucessfully add the printer to cups via an SMB 
share, but the program is not acceping my password.
for example...  If I enter  smb://computername/printer

the printer gets added, but can't connect because it doesn't have 
permission.  If I enter

smb://username:password@computername/printer

I have the same problem.
Does anyone know how I can remedy this?
