Just type the name, sometimes network neighborhood (which is what the add
printer dialog is based upon) gets confused for the silliest of reasons,
where it says printer, type \\machinename\ptintername. The other option is
to go to network neighborhood, then your machine (direct by \\machinename if
you want) and double click the printer, it will say something to the effect
of "to use this printer it must first be set up, do you want to do this
now?" whereupon you say yes.
