Changing domain/workgroup names

I am told that I need to change my domain name (don't ask - long story).
There is not enough room in my Win Me dialogs to type my entire domain name
(it's rather long), and I know this is going to wreak havoc on my NT box,
too. So my question is: Is there a way to change only my domain name in
Samba, Win Me, and Win NT, without changing the workgroup name? If not, how
do I fit a > 15 letter domain name into the appropriate places?
