Authentication question

Is it possible to set samba up to pull its authentication
information from a POP or IMAP server.  I want to set up
samba and have our students logon using the email username
and password.  I was able to do this with EZPROXY and was
wondering if it was possible through samba as well.  Any
help would be greatly appreciated.
