problems with samba's installation

You do not need a DNS.
I do not think the command
nmblookup -B samba will get you anything.
The command you need is something like:
nmblookup samba
or
nmblookup -B 192.168.0.255 (Or whatever your broadcast address is) samba
You could also add the samba host to your lmhosts file, I think.
