Good.  Now try typing the following:

	smb://[computer name]/[share name]

If this gives you the content of the share named [share name], then the
connection is at least working.  I can't help you with the "could not
connect to host - localhost" problem, as I'm having the same exact
problem.  I seem to recall that this is still work in progress on the
KDE's part (someone correct me if I'm wrong), so I'd just be content if
you can browse Windows shares by typing their paths like I did above.
