Any thoughts on why this would give a null response?

Nope... just nothing returned.  Weird as bees knees :)

I have others doing it too.  One is RedHat 6.1 this one and the other are RedHat 6.2.

Samba was built from the 2.2.0 tar ball.

The others are working just fine.  These three are making me crazy
