I'm having problems getting print drivers to install under Samba 2.2 under
Solaris 7 SPARC
I'm not yet trying to use addprinter or deleteprinter - simply to install
print drivers which can be downloaded to Win2K/WinNT/Win9x clients.
I'm using the HP Point and Print bundles to support HP LaserJet 4000 series
printers and I've tried both PCL6 and Postscript without success.
I execute the Add Printer Wizard from Windows 2000 Professional and it seems
to execute properly. I see the files being copied, but when it returns
showing the process as finished, there are still no drivers registered for
the printer.
I've captured level 10 debug info which I can send along as needed.
The share definitions section of smb.conf is as follows
[printers]
path = /var/spool/lp/tmp/samba
printable = yes
browseable = no
admin users = armstron
printer admin = armstron
;
[print$]
path = /var/spool/lp/drivers
writeable = yes
browseable = yes
admin users = armstron
printer admin = armstron
;
I've created the print$ directory structure

I've tried everything from default settings based upon the updated
documentation on the Samba Web Site to modifying permissions of /var/locks
and existing files there to be certain that the "printer admin" can write to
them but I've been unsuccessful at every attempt.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Scott
