Hi james,
I have no idea! But could you please describe exactly how you are 'saving'
these three files - ie, what program are you running on the NT side that is
creating these 3 files when you do a 'save' operation?

Subject: Wierd file renaming.

I have configured and started samba (v 2.0.6) on a HP unix server and
configured our NT domain so that I can read/write files to the defined unix
filesystem shares. It appears that everything seems to be working as
designed except...

When doing a save operation (on the NT system) to the drive mapping to the
unix filesystem I am finding that the names of two particular files are
incorrectly prefixed with the (capatilised) name of the file last
(succesfully) written.

e.g. contents of unix directory before save in NT (these files originated -
succesfully from NT):

#ls -lrt
-rwxr--r-- 1 jmckenz7 panl01 5 Dec 18 09:45 version.FMdat
-rwxr--r-- 1 jmckenz7 panl01 6204 Dec 18 10:00 general.FMdat
-rwxr--r-- 1 jmckenz7 panl01 2112 Apr 24 20:32 cm0001.FMdat
-rwxr--r-- 1 jmckenz7 panl01 2112 Apr 24 20:32 cm0002.FMdat
-rwxr--r-- 1 jmckenz7 panl01 9372 Apr 24 20:32 cm0003.FMdat
-rwxr--r-- 1 jmckenz7 panl01 62 Apr 24 20:32 nd0001.FMdat
-rwxr--r-- 1 jmckenz7 panl01 62 Apr 24 20:32 nd0002.FMdat

After save in NT (I expect, and get, three new files):

#ls -lrt
-rwxr--r-- 1 jmckenz7 panl01 5 Dec 18 09:45 version.FMdat
-rwxr--r-- 1 jmckenz7 panl01 6204 Dec 18 10:00 general.FMdat
-rwxr--r-- 1 jmckenz7 panl01 2112 Apr 24 20:32 cm0001.FMdat
-rwxr--r-- 1 jmckenz7 panl01 2112 Apr 24 20:32 cm0002.FMdat
-rwxr--r-- 1 jmckenz7 panl01 9372 Apr 24 20:32 cm0003.FMdat
-rwxr--r-- 1 jmckenz7 panl01 62 Apr 24 20:32 nd0001.FMdat
-rwxr--r-- 1 jmckenz7 panl01 62 Apr 24 20:32 nd0002.FMdat
-rwxr--r-- 1 jmckenz7 panl01 2851 Apr 24 20:33 network.FMnet
-rwxr--r-- 1 jmckenz7 panl01 1008 Apr 24 20:33
NETWORK.FMNETconnect.FMdat
-rwxr--r-- 1 jmckenz7 panl01 8 Apr 24 20:33
NETWORK.FMNETconnect.FMcon

But two of the three new files are incorrectly prefixed. I should see...

#ls -lrt
-rwxr--r-- 1 jmckenz7 panl01 5 Dec 18 09:45 version.FMdat
-rwxr--r-- 1 jmckenz7 panl01 6204 Dec 18 10:00 general.FMdat
-rwxr--r-- 1 jmckenz7 panl01 2112 Apr 24 20:32 cm0001.FMdat
-rwxr--r-- 1 jmckenz7 panl01 2112 Apr 24 20:32 cm0002.FMdat
-rwxr--r-- 1 jmckenz7 panl01 9372 Apr 24 20:32 cm0003.FMdat
-rwxr--r-- 1 jmckenz7 panl01 62 Apr 24 20:32 nd0001.FMdat
-rwxr--r-- 1 jmckenz7 panl01 62 Apr 24 20:32 nd0002.FMdat
-rwxr--r-- 1 jmckenz7 panl01 2851 Apr 24 20:33 network.FMnet
-rwxr--r-- 1 jmckenz7 panl01 1008 Apr 24 20:33 connect.FMdat
-rwxr--r-- 1 jmckenz7 panl01 8 Apr 24 20:33 connect.FMcon

Any ideas why this is happening?

Kind regards
