"it" is the kernel?

Since for now I'll stay with 2.2.x and 2.0.7, have I understood correctly that I
need to:
1) kernel 2.2.19:
no patch
CONFIG_NLS_DEFAULT="iso8859-1"
CONFIG_SMB_NLS_REMOTE="cp850"
2) samba
no smbmount patch
no need to use localpage and rmtpage

and it should work?

When I'll use samba-2.2.x with kernel 2.2.x it'll be the same, right?

Thanks.
