installing smb_auth for squid debian

Hi...
This might not be the right place to ask this but I will just in case....

Has anyone installed "smb_auth" for squid authentication on a Debian
box....
I get errors when I run the "make" command...this what they look like

gcc -02 -Wall -DSAMBAPREFIX=\"/usr/sbin" -DHELPERSCRIPT=\"/usr/local/ 
bin/smb_auth.sh\" -c -o smb_auth.o smb_auth.c 
smb_auth.c:20: stdio.h: No such file or directory 
smb_auth.c:21: stdlib.h: No such file or directory 
smb_auth.c:22: string.h: No such file or directory 
make: *** [smb_auth.o] Error 1

"gcc" is installed... not sure what to do...
