credentials error

I'm not sure as far as SAMBA goes, but I've run into this exact problem when
removing a computer from a domain, then trying to rejoin it.

I tried everything, but the only thing that would work was, on the NT box,
if Win2K, go to the Device Manager, remove the ethernet card, reboot, then
reinstall the drivers for the ethernet card.  If NT 4.0 - man, it's been so
long, I'm having trouble remembering - anyway, just delete the drivers for
the ethernet card, then reinstall, and that should take care of it.

I Get the following error on my NT-screen:

Can some one explane me how to solve this problem?
I have also create a smbpasswd file with some user account and also de root
account. (e.g. user=smuradin and root)
The reason behind this is, if some wants to get access to the workgroup they
have
to fill in a username and a password. But when I access this with a user
account (smuradin)
and password I have access to the system but not when I want to access it as
root. Then I
get the error as mention above.
