Hi all,

I am trying to get samba to work on my system with Japanese character, and
I am really stuck. can anyone help me please?
first of all, i only see the codepage.932 which i want to use is 8bytes, is
this right file size of this file?.. i issued the command make_smbcodepage c
/usr/local/samba/source/codepages/codepage_def.932 /etc/codepage.932 and
that's what I got. and i also see the default installation codepage.932 is 8
bytes as well. second thing is that i put in my /etc/samba/smb.conf this
two lines:

coding system = EUC
client code page = 932

are those correct setting for it?

let me describe a little further of what I am trying to do.
in windows 98 we using (japanese win 98 version) and we want to create a
japanese character in windows 98 and then save it into the samba server
directories. and then from our Japanese version of redhat, we want to view
the japanese characters in the kconsole terminal when we telnet to it. here
when we view from windows application with the japanese version it seem to
be fine, but when we view in the kconsole terminal, all we saw are junk
characters.

can any one helpe me out with this please? what should be the right way to
set this up?

Thanks alot
TG
