Goto windows update - there is a patch there called "mapped drive shutdown
update"  See if that helps, it did for me.

?re using samba 2.06 with 4 win98se-workstations. so long so good. but
when three of tis four station shutdown and only one remaining in
connection to the sambaserver there occurs a problem (hangup) while the
shutdown of the last workstation. This doesn?t depend on one special
workstation, it?s every time the LAST connected to the server. for me
it?s a mystery, please can anyone help me?
